Patricio O'Ward's debut in the mythical endurance race of the 2022 Daytona 24 hours, came successfully tonight when the Mexican driver took the wheel shortly after six hours of the initial flag, managing to sneak into fifth place in the LMP2 category.

In his first shift of the day, the man from Monterrey took action to replace his teammate Eric Lux aboard the vehicle marked with the number 81, when the car was in 14th place overall and seventh in its category, thus O ‘Ward managed to move up two places.

The Mexican was around 1 hour and 40 minutes on the track in his initial participation setting a time of 1:36.284

But not everything was so simple, because he barely had time to get excited, when the yellow flag appeared due to an incident, and the Safety Car was present on the asphalt for more than 20 minutes, but as soon as the actions resumed, Pato he became the fastest in LMP2.

With an ambient temperature of 4ºC, O’Ward decided to accelerate to improve his team’s fastest lap to set a time of 1:36.557, but just 10 minutes later he makes further progress by closing the time of lap 228 in 1:36.284 .
