The foreign minister indicated that by presidential instruction in forums such as the G20, donations of anti-Covid vaccines between countries were discussed.

Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, Secretary of Foreign Relations, pointed out that next year a special strategy for the purchase of anti-Covid vaccines will no longer be necessary.

“We would already enter a kind of normality in terms of vaccines such as the influenza vaccine and many other vaccines,” he stressed at the morning press conference.

Before President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, he said that a year has passed since the application of vaccines in the country.

“We were the first country in Latin America that had access to vaccines, December 23 marks one year; we are going to have close to 200 million this year, which is the goal that had been set for us; we have more than 80 million people already protected, as reported here: 37 percent of the vaccines have been packaged in Mexico; and we are the seventh country with the most vaccines applied in absolute numbers after a year,” he explained.

“We have already held the last of the 53 meetings of a group in which Foreign Relations, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Navy, Health, Birmex, Cofepris, Issste, SAT, Customs, well, many institutions that made it possible for the vaccines to arrive participate. to Mexico under those conditions,” he added.

“The emphasis has also been placed on the inequity that exists in the distribution, still, of the vaccines; and we have received vaccines from seven countries in the Americas, Asia and Europe,” he said.
