Authorities from the Mexican Social Security Institute find suspicious plastic bag

Around 300 workers and patients were evacuated from the Family Medicine Unit at Psychiatric Hospital No. 10 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) after finding a plastic bag containing bottles, cables and a clock. The suspicious object was thought to be a bomb.

IMSS reported the finding at 7:30 a.m. after evacuating 300 people for security measures.

Authorites from the medical unit informed the Public Security Secretariat, who told the Task Force Group. Personnel from the group removed the bag.

Civil Protection and the Public Prosecutor’s Office attended to the incident and determined that the bag did not represent any danger for the patients or workers.

The IMSS wrote an update about the false alarm on their Twitter page:

The clinic continues to offer family medical services and hospitalization to psychiatric patients.
