Toluca, Mexico – During the next four years, the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) will be a contemporary institution regarding the material it teaches, said the rector Alfredo Barrera Baca.

Accompanied by Secretary of Planning and Institutional Development, Héctor Campos Alanís, and the Secretary of Administration, Javier González Martínez, Barrera Baca said in a forum that UAEM wants to educate more people to a higher level to improve the country’s economy.

The rector said that in addition to improving education, UAEM will also attempt to promote ideas of universal citizenship.

Campos Alanís stated that the proposals of the university students will be collected and systematized, which will be used to steer the future direction of the university and the community it supports.

UAEM Political and Social Sciences Department director Marco Aurelio Cienfuegos Terrón stated that forums such as these are vital to continue communication between university leaders and students.
