President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) said that the Toluca-Mexico train will be ready for September 2023.

The Toluca – Mexico City Train will be inaugurated in the first fortnight of September 2023, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced.

He asserted that with this work, which began in the government of Enrique Peña Nieto, 30 million inhabitants of the country’s capital and the State of Mexico will benefit, in addition to the investment of more than 90 billion pesos.

“We advanced in the construction of the Toluca-Mexico City Train. We are committed, public servants and construction companies, to inaugurate it in the first fortnight of September 2023”, he wrote.

The president stressed that the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum (Morena) and the governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo (PRI), are working in a coordinated manner.

In a video of 7 minutes and 33 seconds, he indicated that this Saturday he had an evaluation meeting with the public servants and the companies responsible for the work.

“There we are moving forward, we want to inaugurate this train at the end of 2023, that is the commitment, to inaugurate it from Toluca to Mexico City,” he promised.

Manuel Gómez Parra, in charge of the Toluca – Mexico City Train, reported that they already have 41 kilometers of civil works, that is, 70% of the length of the project, so they are missing

“An advance in the catenary track of 50% and this activity in the first two sections will be completed between December 2022 and January 2023 for the equipment part. We would still need to complete the 17-kilometre pending sections, which is the section mainly in charge of Mexico City,” he said.

He explained that four of the seven stations have been completed; two are in process in Mexico City, Santa Fe and Vasco de Quiroga, and it is expected that next year the construction of the Observatory terminal will begin.

The governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo (PRI), said that when this train is inaugurated it will become a corridor for industrial development, in addition to bringing the Valleys of Mexico and Toluca closer together.

He emphasized that they work in coordination with the head of government “to support all the families that live in the center of our country, in the metropolitan area of ​​the Valley of Mexico.”

The head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, said that they will work in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Transportation to “give it a greater advance and that it can be ready in the times proposed by the President of the Republic.”

He agreed with the Mexican president that the “fast train” will join the two entities.

He said that in the morning he led the meeting of the security cabinet and the conference at the facilities of the 22nd Military Zone in Santa María Rayón, State of Mexico.

“The governor of the State of Mexico said that they reached an agreement with the government of Mexico City so that the police from Mexico City will enter the State of Mexico and the police from the State of Mexico will enter Mexico City, that is not It was achieved before, it seems like a minor matter, but it is very important, that is, if just one street divides these two large entities in the country, then it is now providing fundamental coordination, ”he concluded.
