Income from Tourism Rising in 2016

The first two months of 2016 showed a 6.8 percent rise in tourism income compared with the same period in 2015

Income from international visitors increased between January and February, reaching $3.297 billion, said the Secretariat of Tourism (Sectur).

Sectur said that the growth in the first two months of 2016 represents a 6.8 percent increase with respect to the same period in 2015, when $3.08 billion came into the country through tourism.

According to data from Sectur, whose head is Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, 5.6 million foreign tourists entered Mexico in the first two months of 2016, a 10.8 percent increase compared to the same period in 2015.

Tourism remains one of the top sources of income for Mexico, along with manufacturing, petroleum exports and remittances.
