The parade organized to commemorate the 155th anniversary of the Battle of Puebla began at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the monument of the General Ignacio Zaragoza in the city of Puebla. The special guest of the event was Secretary of Agricultural, Territorial and Urban Development Rosario Robles Berlanga who attended in lieu of President Peña Nieto.

The honor guard of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) inaugurated the procession, followed by students from over 30 public and private schools who marched bearing giant flags. Locals as well as tourists witnessed the spectacle of floats that featured themes of Puebla’s pre-hispanic culture, the independence, and of course the Battle of Puebla. The parade also showcased typical garments from Hueyapan, Ajalpan, Ixtepec, Cuetzalan and San Miguel Tenango.
