PGR Investigates Attack on ISSSTE Official in Sinaloa

The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) has initiated an investigation into who is responsible for the attack on Miguel Ángel Camacho Zamudio, director of the Government Employees Social Security Institute (ISSSTE) Hospital Clinic in Mazatlán, Sinaloa.

Camacho Zamudio was shot in the abdomen while in front of the clinic.

The PGR said in a statement that through the delegation in Sinaloa, the Mexican Public Prosecutor’s Office will continue the working to find out who is responsible.

Separately, through a statement, the ISSSTE reported that Camacho Zamudio died in the clinic at which he was director. After he was shot, he was taken into the emergency area of the clinic and but could not be revived.

The ISSSTE expressed their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Camacho Zamudio, who was a general physician with a master’s degree in epidemiology and public health, and said that they have the ISSSTE’s support during this difficult time.
