A social media campaign was set in motion to find José Luis Zamora Valdés under the handle "BuscoAPepe"

PARIS — Mexican citizen José Luis Zamora Valdés, 38, showed up today at the Mexican consulate of the French capital in “good health,” according to Mexican diplomatic sources. Zamora Valdés had been missing for 77 days.

The Foreign Relations Secretariat (SRE) issued a statement which said “Mexican citizen José Luis Zamora Valdés visited the Consulate on Wednesday — in good health and by himself — to process a passport application. José Luis is in touch with his family as well as with French authorities. Zamora Valdés has the full support of the Consulate, as does any other Mexican citizen requires it.”

Zamora Valdés, who teaches at Universidad Veracruzana, was last seen on Aug. 3 at the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport where he allegedly missed his connecting flight to Mexico. He was reported missing on Aug. 6, and his family, the French police and the Interpol had been looking for him since.

The SRE added that it will not disclose any information regarding where Zamora Valdés had been and that releasing such information will be Zamora Valdés’ decision.
