Google celebrated the 45th anniversary of “El Chavo del Ocho” with a doodle depicting characters from the popular television show starring Roberto Gómez Bolaños.

The Mountain View company created an interactive doodle featuring La Popis and Quico jumping a rope tied to Google’s “g,” while El Chavo hides in a barrel and tries to steal La Popis’ lollypop.

The comedy show was about the day-to-day lives of a group of children who live in a “vecindad” (a traditional low-income housing community). The main character, El Chavo, is an orphan boy (played by an adult actor) who likes to hide in a barrel, often getting into trouble with his friends Quico, played by Carlos Villagrán and La Chilindrina, played by María Antonieta de las Nieves.

The last episode of the series was one of the most viewed programs in North and South America, and was broadcasted on Jan. 6, 1980, making its characters into pop-culture icons.
