Durango Highway Closed Due to Snowfall

Snow fell in 16 municipalities of Chihuahua. Moderate to strong rains and fog banks were recorded in the rest of the state

Roads, Federal Bridges and Public Services (Capufe) recommends extra precautions on the Durango-Mazatlán highway, as it has been closed due to snowfall in both directions.

On its Twitter account, the Communications and Transportation Secretariat (SCT) wrote that the closure is from kilometer 104 to 113 of the highway.

Snow fell in 16 municipalities of Chihuahua. Moderate to strong rains and fog banks were recorded in the rest of the state.

In a statement, the State Civil Protection Department reported that the municipalities with snow are Guazapares, Uruachi, Bocoyna, Moris, Ocampo, Janos, Madera, Guerrero, Maguarichi, Guachochi, Guadalupe and Calvo, Nonoava, Urique, Carichí, Batopilas And Chínipas.

In Durango, the first snowfall was seen in La Joya de los Quijotes, Coscomate, Mexiquillo, El Salto and Llano Grande. In Sinaloa, it was seen in El Palmito. There were winds up to 17 kilometers per hour, according to the National Meteorological System via the National Water Commission (Conagua).

Snowfall was reported in the municipality of Guanacevi 16 cm high. In the city of Durango, the temperature high for the day was 16 degrees Celsius and in the town of El Palmito, the temperature was recorded at 20.5 degrees.
