Kate del Castillo Obtains Amparo Against PGR Warrant

Mexican actress Kate del Castillo obtained an amparo (A Mexican constitutional legal process that protects the citizen and their basic rights) which will allow her to enter Mexico without having to appear before the authorities regarding her meeting with drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera, leader of the Pacific Cartel.

The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) confirmed that a Mexico City federal court granted Del Castillo an amparo as a temporary protection against a warrant issued against her.

In February 2015, the PGR issued a search warrant for the actress. It is only effective in Mexico and the actress has lived in the United States for years.

The PGR is investigating whether Del Castillo received monetary compensation from Guzmán Loera for her Honor del Castillo tequila brand or for the filming a movie based on the drug lord’s life.
