‘Tri’ Training for Second Win Within Copa

LOS ANGELES — With their mind set on the match against Jamaica on Thursday, the Mexican national soccer team worked Tuesday at the facilities of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) enjoying the pleasant climate.

Left behind are the high temperatures that the players had to face in Phoenix, Arizona, that forced the team to change their plans, already being in the Los Angeles area and its mild climate.

This change is pleasing the players, who perform intense activities, as instructed by manager Juan Carlos Osorio.

Osorio emphasized that this generation “plays from the wings,” with Hirving Lozano and Miguel Layún on the right, Javier Aquino and Cándido Ramírez as midfielders, and in this occasion rehearsing a defense with Néstor Araujo, Diego Reyes and Yasser Corona.

On the other side of the field, the rest of the players practiced shooting into the goal to test the abilities of Guillermo Ochoa and José de Jesús Corona.

In the end, Osorio set up two informal teams for an intrasquad scrimmage, only interrupting them to correct the movements of the players in order for them to correctly carry out his instructions.

Absent from the practice was midfielder Andrés Guardado, who will not be considered for the match against Jamaica by reason of his suspension.
