Although beaten very badly during their visit to the capital, Monterrey remained in first place of the Torneo Clausura 2016 Liga MX.

The squad of “Sultana del Norte” was defeated 4-0 by Cruz Azul, but remains top of the standings with 18 points from eight games.

Meanwhile, Pachuca returned to winning ways to regain second place with a 1-0 win away at Toluca.  León suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Chiapas and drop to third spot.

In the weekend’s other games, U.A.N.L. secured a convincing 4-1 victory over América, with Frenchman Andre-Pierre Gignac once again on the scoresheet. Santos drew 1-1 with Puebla. Both Morelia vs Querétaro and Gaudalajara vs Tijuana also finished 1-1, while Veracruz and Pumas was goalless.

At the bottom, the Dorados de Sinaloa won their first match of the season with a 2-1 victory over Atlas, but remain bottom of the standings with just three points.
