Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov and Australian Bernard Tomic are in the semifinals of the ATP 500 in Acapulco, competing this Friday to determine a ticket to the final of an event that seeks new champion after the elimination of the reigning champion, David Ferrer, in the second round.

Dolgopolov has returned a rival in the tournament, and has taken significant prominence with a precise start, not dropping a set so far, and after being the executioner of Ferrer may have his best chance to reach the final.

So far he has been aggressive and intimidating on court, not only with the serve, but also with shots and offering key variations, leaving Robin Haase today in the quarterfinals with a double 6-3.

He came to the press conference one of the few remaining presented as stars for this tournament, today the Australian landed a double 7-5 against Illya Marchenko of Ukraine in a game that took one and half hours.

About the game between the two, Dolgopolov said in press conference Bernard Tomic will be an interesting duel, “We have played many times, handled it well around the court, he has a good ‘slide’ but I need to focus on my game, be as aggressive and take every opportunity.”

Tomic made his way to the semifinals without creating much noise, with rivals lower-level rivals but a fair offering.
