THURSDAY
For lovers of artisanal works or people who just want to discover what’s out there, 15 countries will be present at the International Arts Fair in the World Trade Center located at Montecito 38 all weekend from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.. Entrance is 30 pesos, kids under 12 get in free.
FRIDAY
The mandala is a symbol in Buddhism and Hinduism that represents the universe, and Bazar Fusión brings us the Mandala Fest, where you can enjoy delicious healthy food, buy mandala art and even create your own designs. They will provide you with everything you need! Go to Londres 37 at 11 a.m. It lasts all weekend and entrance is free.
The power of music is undeniable! Colombian singer Ceferina Banquez will transport you to her hometown of Guamanga with her traditional songs born during a difficult time in Colombia. Bullerengue for peace will take place in Casa del Lago in Chapultepec (entrance is located on Reforma Avenue). The concert starts at 8:30 p.m., but there will be a documentary screening at 7 p.m. The event is free.
SATURDAY
It’s no news that Mexicans love chilis, and while there might be debate over which country eats the most peppers (let’s say it’s us), you can indulge your Love of Chili at this year’s festival at Huerto Roma Verde located at Jalapa 234. Enjoy the 64 types of chilis produced in Mexico in all of their culinary presentations! The event starts at 12 p.m. all weekend and entrance is free.
In Mexico, we are often accused of choosing foreign made products, over products made in Mexico, so opportunities to discover national producers and artists should not be wasted. Head to Bazar Mexicanitas at La Faena in Venustiano Carranza 49 “B” in the Historic Center. It opens at 12 p.m. and entrance is free.
SUNDAY
The Aztec culture is one of the most important ancient cultures in the world and in Mexico City we have the privilege of having archeological treasures like the Templo Mayor Museum, which presents the exhibit Nuestra Sangre, Nuestro Color, featuring 28 polychrome sculptural works from the ancient city of Tenochtitlán. Located at Seminario 8 in the Historic Center, the museum opens at 9 a.m. and admission is 65 pesos.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
International Taco and Beer Festival: The name says it all! Every kind of taco you can imagine (even vegan), 100 types of artisanal beers from all across Mexico and countries like Germany, Belgium and Russia. Pack your picnic blanket and head to Centro Recreativo Los Pinos, Calle Río Cuatitlán in Teoloyucan, State of Mexico. The festival is open all weekend from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.. Entrance is 100 pesos.
Lollapalooza: While not yet in Mexico, this traditional Chicago festival will be broadcasted in Hotel Distrito Capital on Saturday and sponsored by Red Bull. This event is sure to make you feel like you are actually there (minus all the travel expenses). Entrance is free but there’s a limited capacity. To reserve your spot and for more info click here.
