Volcano in Colima Erupts 1.5 Kilometers into the Air

People living nearby are told to be on alert

The Colima Volcano blew smoke 1.5 kilometers into the air Wednesday, according to Civil Protection National Coordinator Luis Felipe Puente.

The Interior Secretariat official said via his Twitter account that the volcano, which is on the border of Colima and Jalisco, discharged at 8.17 a.m. Wednesday. The wind blew the dust northwards, said Puente.

People living near the volcano are recommended to take precautions against ash fall, which can damage respiratory systems.
