UAEM Students Win Clay Design Contest

UAEM students won four of out five awards in the “Creativity in Applied Design in Clay Handicrafts” contest, organized by the town hall of Metepec, State of Mexico

Students from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) won four of out five awards in the “Creativity in Applied Design in Clay Handicrafts” contest, organized by the town hall of Metepec, State of Mexico.

The UAEM Architecture and Design Department announced that more than 60 students from public and private higher education institutions entered the contest, whose goal was to encourage creativity and strengthen the identity of the Metepec municipality.

During the awards ceremony, which was held in the Juárez Plaza in Metepec, the following UEAM students were awarded second, third, fourth and fifth place, respectively: Nancy Araceli García de la Luz, Yarislett Orozco Benítez, Cecilia Guadalupe Sánchez Sánchez and Karen Patricia Villafuerte.

The contest was founded to link the artisan industry to universities. The technique was open, and the main guideline was to represent Tlanchana, the mythic character of the municipality of Metepec.
