UAEM Students of the Faculty of Humanities organized a Toy Drive to collect toys for the children affected in September 19’s earthquake

Jesús Rafael Alonzo Quintana, UAEM graduate and history major, explained that the toys collected would be delivered to the downtown area of Ocuilan, State of Mexico, which was affected by landslides.

“We have had a very good response from the general public and from the university community,” he said.

Thanks to the overwhelming response, the students decided to lengthen the duration of the toy drive, which was originally only going to last one day to last three days.

“It’s very moving that so many people joined in to give joy to a child,” said Paola Cecilia Mota, a history student.

Law student Juan Martín García, who donated several toys, said that “we have to help; we have to collaborate with people and not just do it one day or a week, because people are still in crisis. “
