UAEM Hosts International Peace Event

In order to strengthen academic relations between Mexico and Colombia, the Political and Social Sciences Department at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) held an international workshop on peace.

At the opening ceremony of this academic event, organized by the Masters in Studies for Peace and Development and the Masters in Conflict and Peace at the University of Medellín, director Marco Aurelio Cienfuegos Terrón, said that the administration of president Jorge Olvera García enhances the internationalization of UAEM by promoting mobility of students and academics, and also creating links with foreign institutions.

Accompanied by the coordinator of the Masters in Conflict and Peace at the University of Medellín, Paula Valencia Londoño, Cienfuegos Terrón highlighted the presence of Colombian students in the Political and Social Sciences Department at UAEM.

Valencia Londoño said that in the case of Latin America “is important to focus on prognosis measures in conflict, and not stagnate in the diagnosis afterwards, to ensure a therapeutic process.”

She said that only by applying peace studies in a timely manner will the problems afflicting much of Latin American society be reduced.
