Norma González Paredes and Gerardo Olguín González of the Texcoco campus of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM), gave several presentations at the First International Conference on Transdisciplinarity and Critical Pedagogy in Cali, Colombia.

The event brought together scientists and professors from several countries, including Cuba, the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico Venezuela and Colombia. The two UAEM professors spoke on issues impacting education in developing countries. They discussed their experiences as professors at UAEM and how it has adapted its methods and programs to better meet the needs of students in a developing country.

They said that while UAEM focuses its academic offerings on the demands in the labor market, the university does not overlook the humanistic character of higher education and academics.

González Paredes and Olguín González participated with other researchers in numerous activities, with the goal of developing strategies to re-imagine education and share strategies across borders in Latin America.
