UAEM Academics Participate in Evaluator Training Course

Academics from the Sciences Department at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) participated in an Evaluators Training Course, offered by the Mathematics Education Programs Certification Council (CAPEM) in the State of Mexico.

Lead by the director of the CAPEM, Miguel Ángel López Díaz, UAEM professors shared their experiences with educators from 10 other academic institutions around the country.

Members of CAPEM’s Directive Council gave the course, whose objective was to train the professors to carry out the evaluation and certification of bachelor’s degree programs in which mathematics are a key component, such as Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Engineering and Mathematical Physics, among others.

During the two-day course, the professors covered evaluation methodology and process and received training in applying evaluation tools, including setting indicators and standards.

Alongside the course, the CAPEM Accreditation Commission led a working meeting, in which they established the criteria to accredit education programs. The Commission is made up of eleven distinguished professors from different higher education institutions, including the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), UAEM, the Autonomous University of Coahuila and the University of Papaloapan.
