Indigenous groups join together to celebrate special event

TOLUCA, State of Mexico – The five indigenous groups of the State of Mexico matlatzinca, mazahua, náhuatl, otomí and tlahuica will join together to celebrate the Festival del Quinto Sol (the Fifth Sun Festival) March 15-21.

The government of the State of Mexico announced that the event will offer more than 400 activities throughout 94 municipalities including Acambay, Temoaya, Temascaltepec, Ocuilan, San Felipe del Progreso, Toluca and Tenango del Valle.

Among the activities there will be traditional ceremonies and an opening show.

The closing ceremony will take place on March 21 at 11:00 a.m. in the Archeological Zone in Teotenango, Tenango del Valle, where a traditional náhuatl ceremony will take place. At 6:00 p.m. Tenango del Valle will offer a concert by María Ferrina.
