Senate’s Statement on Trump’s Inauguration

The Senate’s Political Coordination Board called upon the Mexican government to create strategies for trade, migration and border security, essential components of the U.S.-Mexico bilateral relationship, as Donald Trump is inaugurated as U.S. president.

The Institutional Revolution Party (PRI), National Action Party (PAN), Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), Green Party (PVEM) and Labor Party (PT) parliamentary coordinators all issued a statement regarding the inauguration.

In the document, they declare that Mexico should protect the interests of the Mexican public in all their future decisions with United States. In this difficult juncture, they also called for the unity of the Mexican people and asked them to overlook differences in the interest of the nation.

The statement was signed by the Political Coordination Board president Fernando Herrera Ávila (PAN), Emilio Gamboa Patrón (PRI), Miguel Barbosa Huerta (PRD) and others.
