American Society of Mexico President and Republican party representative Larry Rubin believes that presidents Enrique Peña Nieto Donald Trump will meet soon to discuss issues in relation to their bilateral relationship.
Rubin, who is a candidate for the next U.S. ambassador to Mexico, said that the differences between the two leaders must be respected.
He assured that U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s next meeting will reiterate the U.S. government’s commitment to Mexico. He rejected the notion that journalism leaks affect the relationship between the two nations.
“It should not undermine our relationship that a lot of misinformation is generated causing false alarms,” he said. He also rejected the notion that Trump modifies his speech on controversial subjects and said that the rumored changes in the issuance of visas were false, saying that individuals are not prohibited from entering the United States if mobile devices have political memes.
Rubin explained that in March they will receive a group of businessmen from San Diego, California to strengthen friendship and commercial ties with Mexico.
In response to Michael Flynn’s resignation from his position as U.S. National Security Adviser, Rubin said Trump’s cabinet is robust and this move is only part of the current administration’s rearrangement.
He also detailed the figures on the trade deficit that some countries have with the United States and noted that Mexico’s deficit is at $65 billion.
