Provisonal Detention for Former Veracruz Official with Duarte Ties

A judge has determined that the former Head of the Education Institute in Veracruz Dominga Xóchitl Tress Rodríguez will remain in provisional detention for up to two years.

The hearing took place on Tuesday morning, where the judge set a confirmation hearing for this coming Thursday. Tress Rodriguez will remain at the Playa Linda detention center while she awaits trial.

Tress Rodríguez was arrested on Monday in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco by the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE), for alleged use of illicit funds. Tress Rodríguez has been linked to former Veracruz governor Javier Duarte de Ochoa as his alleged mistress.
