PRD: PRI in Collusion with Catholic Church

The Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) via its General Secretary Beatriz Mojica Morga, accused the Catholic Church of launching attacks against the Morelos Gov.Graco Ramírez Garrido. The party claims these attacks are meant as “political favors” for the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

Last Thursday, members of society and government officials from various political groups signed the “Manifesto for Morelos” in which they stated their support for Bishop Ramón Castro Castro.

Mojica Morga said that Catholic Church leaders accused Ramírez Garrido of starting a persecution against Castro Castro. “The PRI is behind this accusations against the governor as part of a strategy to win back the state,” she said. Mojica Morga also accused the PRI of using Cardinal Norberto Rivera, Cuernavaca Mayor Cuauhtémoc Blanco and Autonomous University of the State of Morelos rector Alejandro Vera Jiménez, in order to attack Ramírez Garrido.

The major accusation that Mojica Morga hurled against the PRI, was stating that she had never seen an “ecclesiastical lynching” of this type, and even worse one that is taking place under the compliance of the Interior Secretariat (Segob) headed by Miguel Ángel Osorio Chung.

“The Interior Secretariat complacently sits back and watches blatant violations against the Political Constitution of the Republic, by allowing the clergy to intervene in state affairs,” she said.

Mojica Morga said that the attacks against Ramírez have been made worse because “Ramírez’s projects and government programs have been successful” and that “the PRD will continue to demand answers from the Interior Secretary to explain the lack of actions taken by Osorio Chong.”
