Potential PRD and PAN Alliance

Within the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) there is disagreement regarding an alliance with the National Action Party (PAN) in the State of Mexico. Many, like the National Democratic Alternative (ADN), believe that a broad coalition must be made amongst the left.

“There is no consensus regarding an alliance with the PAN. Within the PRD there are two reigning opinions. There are those who consider that it is necessary to join the left, and then there are those who believe that the broadest front of opposition must be formed,” said ADN member and PRD Organization Secretary Camerino Eleazar.

He explained that for next year’s government elections, the PRD has a few options.

“There is the possibility of going alone, creating a broad progressive front, or going with the Labor Party (PT) and the Citizen’s Movement. Those scenarios were explored in congress, and it was agreed that the priority should be to join the left,” Eleazar said.
