‘Porkys’ Gang Member Receives Amparo

The Veracruz Third District Court granted an amparo (a Mexican constitutional legal process that protects citizens and their basic rights) to one of the members of the Porkys gang, Diego Cruz Alonso, who fled to Spain months after being accused of sexually abusing a minor along with three other young men in 2015.

This resolution renders Cruz Alonso’s extradition “suspended” now that he may face up to forty years in jail on grounds of aggravated child molestation. Cruz Alonso is currently serving time in Spain after being arrested by the Interpol on June 11.

Cruz Alonso’s defense has requested that the amparo be considered in order to repeal the extradition order. The defense also stated that the rape allegations are part of an “intricate extortion scheme” crafted by the minor’s father who allegedly kidnapped and extorted the Porkys for four million pesos ( $197,270).

Cruz Alonso was arrested in Madrid when he was out partying with friends and tried to deceive the authorities regarding his identity.
