Ricardo Anaya Cortés, the president of the National Action Party (PAN) appealed to the emotions of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in the Chamber of Deputies when supporting the request for trial presented by PAN against Javier Duarte de Ochoa, the governor of Veracruz, for misusing federal resources.

Anaya Cortés said that he regrets the serious security situation in Veracruz.

He said that the Veracruz government is plagued with rampant corruption and embezzlement.

The politician demanded that the law be applied to the Veracruz governor, that he be sanctioned and that he return all of the money he has stolen.

Anaya Cortés asked PRI members for their sympathy and to initiate the request against Duarte de Ochoa.

“What we ask is that there not be impunity and that corruption is punished, that we move forward with an anti-corruption system. We don’t need to remain in silence,” Anaya Cortés said.

The PAN president added that the competent authorities will be the ones who determine if Duarte de Ochoa goes to jail or not. He reiterated that there has been embezzlement in the government and those responsible should be punished.
