Interior Secretary Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong denied charges of torture being committed against Joaquín Guzmán Loera, “El Chapo”, and assured he was being treated as what he is, “a felon”.
In a telephone interview the federal official explained that no convict in El Altiplano prison receives bad treatment, as human rights are respected above all.
“We are acting solely and exclusively based on procedure”, Osorio Chong noted.
The Interior Secretary added that the drug dealer receives personal medical attention, due to which, he said, the wife of Guzmán Loera need not fear for his physical wellbeing.
He insisted that a process of extradition to the United States is ongoing so that “El Chapo” may face justice in that country.
