The mural “Evolving Knowledge” by artist Leonardo Montelongo Ortega was inagurated in the library building of the schools of Medicine and Chemistry of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM).

Montelongo Ortega, whose work has been shown internationally, conceived a concept for a show titled “Farmacollage” which incorporates the use of acrylic paint and crushed medicines such as pills, capsules, tablets and even syrup.

Montelongo, architect and self-taught artist, explains that “at some point of my life I was surrounded by a heap of medications which were not going to bring my father back to life, so I chose to re-use them.”

He considers that his work allows him to convey the hope of ill people and the faith of their families in something that might lack a positive outcome.
