Mexico City Publishes Protocol for Crimes Against Journalists

The Mexico City State Attorney General’s Office (PGJE) published the Protocol of Investigation for the Attention of Crimes Committed Against Journalists.

The PGJE announced that the agreement is amended, as are guidelines for the use of personnel in these cases.

The objective of the protocol is to establish the guidelines that the ministerial, police and expert personnel should observe in the investigation of the crimes committed against journalists and collaborators, in the exercise of their work.

The PGJE said that the Vocational Training Institute will train the ministerial, police and expert personnel responsible for intervening in the investigation of crimes committed against journalists and colleagues, on the changes and adjustments of the process of investigation.

These amendments are intended to uphold human rights for journalists and colleagues working in the field and to punish violations against them.
