The Mexico City government has removed fixed stalls from public roads and seized illicit merchandise in Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas, in order to provide better conditions for the pedestrian crossing, improve the environment and generate greater security in the area.
The local administration reported that from 14:00 yesterday, officers began securing products by around midnight metal street vending structures have been removed between the avenues Izazaga to Juárez.
They said that these actions were coordinated by the Government Secretariat, through its General Directorate of Government (DGG), with the collaboration of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Finance Secretariat of the Mexican capital.
They stressed that the stalls that were removed were on public roads, were fixed establishments and in eight places that lacked valid permission or were dedicated to the sale of items other than those they are legally allowed to sell.
The authority called for the help of citizens in combating illicit sales.
The local government reported that around 7,000 illegal cell phones, 10,000 CDs and various objects, including accessories, cover, and cases for mobile phones, electronic storage devices, tablets, hearing aids and cables were seized.
