National Civil Protection Coordinator Luis Felipe Puente said that a group of 112 rescue workers are traveling to Ecuador Monday to help with relief efforts after the earthquake that took place in the South American country.

On his Twitter account, @LUISFELIPE_P, the official of the Interior Secretariat (Segob) announced that on orders from President Enrique Peña Nieto, rescue workers had left the Mexico City International Airport for Ecuador.

Puente said that before they left, the rescue workers, who are part of the Army, the Marines, emergency health workers, the Federal Police, the Red Cross and the state of Jalisco, staged extensive search-and-rescue drills before leaving.
