Mexican Red Cross Providing Assistance for Quake Victims

MEXICO CITY – Mexico’s Red Cross continues its rescue efforts and treatment of those wounded by the 7.1. magnitued earthquake that hit the country’s central region Tuesday afternoon, killing over 200 people. Polanco Hospital received 43 persons, three of them severely damaged.

The country’s Red Cross deployed over 140 ambulances and 30 rescue units, as well as 1,500 of its members, to join the rescue efforts and provide medical assistance to the states of Hidalgo, Querétaro, Jalisco, Guanajuato, State of Mexico and Mexico City.

The Red Cross also made a general call for help, asking for monetary donations that will be put into resources to aid hospitalized victims. Donations can be made to either the Bancomer account 0404040406 or the Multiva account 4444 Cable: 132180000000044443.
