Mancera and Videgaray Allocate Funds for Metro Expansion

The Treasury and Public Finance Secretariat (SHCP) guaranteed the government of Mexico City 200 million pesos in resources for the expansion of Metro Line A, which will comprise of an extension from La Paz to Chalco.

In a meeting involving Mexico City mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera and Finance Secretary Luis Videgaray, the leaders conducted an analysis of the budgetary resources allocated to water projects and transportation, including the recent adjustment concluded to not affect the resources allocated for financial and technical studies on the project to extend Metro Line A.

The treasury also pledged to provide budget availability needed to realize the critical maintenance needed for the Cutzamala System, working in coordination with the Mexico City government to find a source of funding to modernize the environmental mediation systems of the metropolitan area.

In a statement, the agency reported that the work meeting covered the transportation works of each of the lines of the Metro and Metrobús, and a review of water projects spanning the Emisor Oriente Tunnel and the Cutzamala System.

Also there was feedback on the status of the studies conducted to date on the environmental impact and housing projects, among others.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the National Bank of Public Works and Services (Banobras) and the National Infrastructure Fund (Fonadin), were ready to propose to various internal bodies, projects of the Mexico City Water Program, which cover water rescue, elimination of leaks and and various water treatment plants.
