Individual Associated with 'Los Tequileros' Released by Guerrero Paramilitary Group

Guerrero security spokesperson Roberto Álvarez Heredia reported that the paramilitary group is composed of more than 220 people

After a roundtable between inhabitants of San Miguel Totolapan and local authorities, the residents agreed to release more than 20 people who were held after being accused of pertaining to the “Los Tequileros” gang.

The meeting was attended by the State Governance director Jésus Vargas Vargas, Prevention Vice-President Alejandro Santos González, and Visiting General of the State Human Rights Commission Violeta Carolina Parra Reyna.

On Tuesday afternoon a negotiation team was established to discuss the group of citizens who announced the formation of the paramilitary group “Totolapense Movement for Peace” in that municipality of Tierra Caliente, as part of a response to the various kidnappings and assaults that have recently taken place in the area, as well as to demand the return of an engineer who had been kidnapped merely days prior.
