EL PASO, Texas — A Mexican citizen wanted for a 2009 rape in San Luis Potosí was turned over to Mexican Authorities by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Tuesday.
An arrest warrant in San Luis Potosí was issued for Juan Humberto Collazo Sánchez, 39, on Oct. 26, 2009. Collazo Sánchez is wanted for rape.
He entered the United States without documents on Nov. 24, 2015, near Douglas, Arizona, and was arrested five days later.
On Jan. 25, the Mexican Attorney General’s Office (PGR) advised ICE about Collazo Sánchez’ status as a fugitive. The PGR requested that Collazo Sánchez be turned over to Mexican authorities.
ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) took custody of Collazo Sánchez and turned him over to Mexico at the top of the Stanton International Bridge.
Since Oct. 1, 2009, ERO has removed more than 1,150 foreign fugitives from the U.S. who were wanted for crimes in other countries.
