Former Veracruz Attorney General Explains Decision to Resign

Luis Ángel Bravo Contreras, who recently resigned as Veracruz attorney general, stated that rumors surrounding his resignation claiming that it was due to external pressures or threats, are false.

“I walk away with a feeling of accomplishment, holding my head high, my hands are clean,” he said.

Bravo Contreras noted that he made this decision after talking it over with his family.

“It was completely voluntary considering the nefarious situation Veracruz is going through,” he said. “I gave notice to the legislature on Monday so that it became effective.”

The former attorney general said that he will continue with the closing activities for the position. Bravo Contreras will remain in Xalapa and will consider options for his professional path on January.
