Flavino Ríos Alvarado Named Interim Governor of Veracruz

Ríos Alvarado will be in office from Oct. 13 to Nov. 30

By majority of votes, Veracruz legislators designated Flavino Ríos Alvarado as interim governor after accepting Javier Duarte de Ochoa’s official resignation from office.

In a press release, the legislative body indicated that the during the congressional session, legislators first approved the request for resignation from Duarte de Ochoa. After, they heard proposals from various deputies.

Ríos Alvarado, who will be in office from Oct. 13 to Nov. 30 said that he would strive towards a political process based in constructive dialogue and agreement, in order to settle conflicts and create solutions that work towards peace in the state.

Ríos Alvarado assured he would maintain communication with all political parties in Veracruz, legislative and judicial powers and the public.

He assured that he would work his hardest to have an easy transition into the next administration, with order and transparency.
