Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have condemned Oaxaca Governor Alejandro Murat Hinojosa’s administration after a sharp increase in femicides during his short time in office.

In just six months of Murat Hinojosa’s term, 52 women have been killed in the state.

NGOs said that in the past 19 years, there has been a total of 1,291 femicides, and that former Governor Gabino Cué Monteagudo’s administration saw the largest amount, with 527 murders.

The organizations are accusing Murat Hinojosa of making false promises and a lack of action, while women are still being murdered.
