Former Aguascalientes Gov. Reynoso Femat Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

The Second Criminal Court sentenced former Aguascalientes Gov. Luis Armando Reynoso Femat to six years and nine months of imprisonment for embezzlement and fraud.

In a statement, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) explained that the case started in October 2008 with the supposed purchase of an x-ray with a value of 13.8 million pesos ($633, 364), which was not found in any public hospital.

The company Logistics and Commercial Advice appeared to be the beneficiary of these public resources.

The embezzled money was transferred from the Finance Secretary to the Health Secretary as if they were to be used by the health sector.

The sentence declared this Tuesday declares Reynoso Femat guilty. However, it also indicates that Reynoso Femat will not go to prison because he was protected by the payment of a bond.

The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that Reynoso Femat will have to repay the 13.8 million pesos, which will be delivered in cash to the state government.
