“El Chapo” Guzman ‘didn’t hurt anyone’ were the words of Bernarda Guzmán, presumed sister of Joaquín Guzmán Loera, Mexican capo detained for the third time the past Jan 8 in Sinaloa.

The presumed sister of the Mexican capo affirmed that ‘even an irrational animal wants its freedom’ when she appeared at the Altiplano prison where the criminal is being held and where family members and lawyers have announced a hunger strike.

According to his legal representatives, Guzmán can’t sleep at night and is woken up at least once so that officials can get a “test of life,” a situation that has left him feeling likee “a zombie.”

For the sister, this treatment can be chalked up to the fact that the authorities “are mad” about the escape from this same prison last July, through a tunnel of 1.5 kilometers that left from his cell.

‘I want to ask the authorities of this prison do do what’s right,’ said the woman who revealed she had not been allowed to see her brother, insisting that el Chapo ‘hasn’t hurt anyone.’

One of El Chapo’s lawyers, José Luis González Meza, explained that they would be installing a tent to accommodate the family members on strike, whom everyone has been waiting for since midday Friday.

Upon being questioned about the capo, the sister explained that the family does not support the criminal being sent to the United States, although they will accept whatever decision Guzmán makes. Through lawyers, he has asked to be extradited due to horrible conditions under which he finds himself imprisoned.

‘We are worried that in the United States he will be treated worse than a prisoner of war,’ said the alleged sister of Guzmán Loera

After being interviewed by the press, the woman finally opted to get into a vehicle and disappear from the premises, apparently leaving aside her idea to start the hunger strike on that very site.

González Meza, who shone in a shirt with printed letters saying “Extradition, Never” (the latter word in English), remembered that although “El Chapo” spoke in favor of extradition, it should be the Supreme Court who has the final say in the matter.

Guzmá is facing dozens of charges of narco trafficking and money laundering in federal courts in Arizona, Texas, California, Illonois, Florida and New York.
