Conafe to Apply New Educational Model in 2016-2017 School Year

MEXICO CITY — More than 200 heads of academic organizations and programs, trainers, tutors, and educational assistants of the National Educational Development Council (Conafe) attended the First Meeting of National Technical Training for the Learning Model Based on Collaboration and Dialogue, or Pedagogical Model ABCD, in Metepec.

The meeting was led by the head of the Directorate of Community Education and Social Inclusion of Conafe, Lilia Dalila López Salmorán, who said the purpose of the meeting was to prepare educational figures and assistant officials in the management of the new teaching technique.

After five days of tutorial workshops, participants will return to the 16 states of the central, south and southeast regions of the country where they came from, to enable the Educational Community Leaders (LECs) to meet the target of implementing the new educational model in the 2016-2017 school year.

Closing this First National Meeting, the general director of Conafe, Joel Guerrero Juárez said that the strength of this new concept is that LECs lead the children in learning through dialogue and collaboration.

This will be implemented from pre-primary to secondary, with different treatment at each level for the same subject, in which the most advanced students help those who fall behind, to integrate learning communities.

The Education Program Sector 2013-2018 considered nearly five thousand forms of content of basic education subjects, while Conafe’s new model synthesizes content contained in 52 learning units, from which children will choose what they want to learn, Guerrero Juárez said.
