Canadian Tourist Arrested Under Suspicion of Sexually Abusing 3 Year Old in Acapulco

68 year old Canadian tourist Walter Suk has been accused of sexual abuse of a three year old girl from Guerrero. Suk was arrested, then released under a 50 thousand peso bail.

The foreigner regained his liberty within a few hours because in the state of Guerrero, pedophilia is not considered a felony, said the state’s chief prosecutor Xavir Olea Peláez.

In an interview, Olea Peláez said that the state’s attorney asked the judge to consider the foreign pedophile suspect’s capability of fleeing to escape sentencing. He requested that the subject be forced to turn in his passport to prevent him from leaving the country.

Just yesterday, representatives of local, state and federal government gathered to laud Guerrero’s high Holy Week tourism rates, even in the face of security issues. Photo: Notimex

He estimated that the legal period of freedom for the Canadian would end at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and that he would then be entered into the Acapulco jail to be put at the judge’s disposal.

Lea Peláez mentioned that the mother of the victim is being cooperative in the investigation and that he would be keeping the case’s other details classified as it was currently under investigation.

He also mentioned that this has been the only case of pedophilia tried in the state.
