Beltrones Says Gov. Duarte to Be Held Accountable

Manlio Fabio Beltrones, president of the National Executive Committee (CEN) of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) reiterated that Javier Duarte de Ochoa, Governor of Veracruz, “cannot be omitted” and must be held accountable for the irregularities in the use of federal funds, thought to reach over 35 thousand millions pesos according to the Federal Auditing Agency (ASF).

Despite this insistent exhortation, the leader of the PRI underlined that, these being an election period in Veracruz, Duarte’s political rivals are targeting him, despite the fact that he is not the only governor to be held accountable by the federal auditing agency.

Javier Duarte’s PRI government, however, is firmly in first place nationwide in terms of detected irregularities in federal spending according to the ASF, with 35 thousand millions pesos.

“Duarte, any governor and any public servant that handles the people’s resources must be held accountable. I express that nobody, absolutely nobody, can evade accountability. A report from the Federal Auditing Agency that concerns various governments and agencies, cannot be omitted”, underlined Manlio Fabio Beltrones in a radio interview.

The national leader of the PRI asserted that, in times of elections, more focus is put on the PRI’s governor of Veracruz, when other governors must also present accounts.

“To us Javier Duarte is the governor of Veracruz, postulated by the PRI, and will always have the regard of his party and the demands of his party. He is fulfilling his job and must dedicate himself to do it even better in the end of his term”, stated Beltrones.
