ASF: Duarte’s Money Management ‘Historical’

The head of the Federal Auditing Agency (ASF) Juan Manuel Portal said the irregularities found in Veracruz’s administration of resources during Javier Duarte de Ochoa’s tenure were “historical.” Portal stated the auditing authority had never detected as many inconsistencies or filed as many criminal complaints before on grounds of unproven expenses or mismanaged funds.

He claimed that expenses already amount to more than 35 billion pesos ($1.9 billion) between clarification requests and complaints.
