Aurelio Nuño Mayer, head of the Public Education Secretariat (SEP), said that 36.2 percent of the more than 134,000 elementary and high school education teachers and school managers who participated in the Teachers Performance Assessment obtained “sufficient” scores.
40.5 percent of the assessed teachers scored “good,” 8 percent scored “outstanding,” and the remaining 15,3 percent scored “insufficient.”
Presenting the results of the Performance Assessment for the 2015-2016 school year, Nuño Mayer said that a total of 150,086 teachers were summoned and that 134,140 carried out the test on the proper dates. That is, 90 percent of teachers complied.
The teachers with the highest scores will earn a 35 percent increase to their base salaries starting on the second half of May which will be retroactive to Feb. 16. They may also apply to housing and personal loans from the Government Employees Social Security Institute (ISSSTE).
