In 2016, the Mexico City Immediate Social Intervention program will have a budget of 32 million pesos ($1.7 million) in order to improve accessibility conditions and provide social protection for the vulnerable population sectors in the capital.

The Social Development Secretariat (Sedesol) explained that the program, carried out by the Prevention and Citizen Participation Undersecretariat, provides free delivery of goods such as canes, crutches, wheelchairs, walkers, artificial limbs, hearing aids, eyeglasses and blankets for those most in need.

Children, teenagers, pregnant women, disabled persons and the elderly with needs in education, health, basic housing or food can have access to the benefits offered by the program, as can citizens affected by natural disasters.
